Donna Severtsgaard, 90, of Vinton died Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha.

Donna was born February 7, 1926 in Clarion to Gerhard and Hazel (Tendall) Tegland. She was united in marriage to Ernie Severtsgaard on March 24, 1945 in Clarion. Ernie preceded her in death on August 22, 2011.

Donna worked for the ASCS office in Vinton, the Benton County Assessor’s Office and lastly as the School Secretary at West Elementary School in Vinton.

She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in Mary Martha Guild, the Vinton Country Club and in later years a social member for bridge. Donna enjoyed couples bridge group and Shaping You. She also so enjoyed her coffee groups with the retired school secretaries and “Dick and the has-beens.” She also loved taking family vacations, especially to the West Coast and several trips to the East Coast. Donna also loved family get-togethers and attending school and sporting events for the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Donna is survived by her daughter, Diane; son, Mike (Phyl) all of Vinton; her grandchildren, Jay (Tracy) of La Porte City and Amy (Matt) Salger of Vinton; her great grandchildren, Tyler & Grant Severtsgaard and Gavin & Reagan Salger; and her brother-in-law, Jim (Janice) Severtsgaard of Hampton, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Ernie.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton with Rev. Stephen Preus officiating. Private family interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery [in Vinton, Iowa]. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
