Mrs. Maye Lucille Ramer, the daughter of William N. and Catherine McGowan Mentzer, was born on April 4, 1892 at Cabery, Illinois. In 1902, she moved to Iowa with her parents and the family farmed near Havelock, Iowa. She received her education in the schools at Cabery, Ill. and Havelock, Iowa. In 1913, the family moved to Eagle Grove and she worked in the Duer's Dry Goods Store. On Sept. 30, 1919, she was united in marriage with Leonard L. Ramer in the Sacred Heart Church in Eagle Grove. The couple lived in Goldfield, LuVerne and Eagle Grove, where Mr. Ramer died in 1934. She had been a resident of the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove since 1980. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Catholic Daughters of. America.

Mrs. Ramer died at the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove on Thursday night, March 31, 1983, at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 27 days.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Keller of Iowa City; Muriel, Mrs. Thomas Hart of Eagle Grove; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis Mentzer of Eagle Grove and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and a granddaughter, her parents and three brothers.

Funeral services for Mrs. Maye L. Ramer, were held on Monday, April 4, 1983 at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Fr. John Hemann was the officiant and Sister Theresa Hart, O.P. was the lector and burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Catholic Daughters and Parish Rosary services were held on Sunday evening at 8 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
