Benard “Ben” Asche
30 October 1900 ----- 13 August 1979Ben Asche, the son of Weert W. and Marie (Heyerhorst) Asche, was born October 30, 1900, at Forreston, Illinois. He moved to Iowa with his family in 1913 and settled near Kanawha.
On November 14, 1923, he married Winnifred Packard at Kanawha. They farmed in the Britt area until her death, June 15, 1941.
On July 7, 1942, he Married Helen Charbonneaux Boutilier at Bethany, Missouri. They moved south of Garner, where they farmed until retiring in 1949, when they moved into Garner. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Garner.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; a son, Walter and his wife Catherine of Mason City; a daughter, Mrs William (Helen Mary) Gouge of Lead Hill, Arkansas; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Freda) TerHark of Osage and Mrs. Tena Hayjenga of Shannon, Illinois; and three brothers, Klaus of Kanawha, Fred of Belmond and Angle of Eagle Grove. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Winnifred; a daughter, Mrs. Beth O'Rourke; a son Bernard Art Asche; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Perle Schubert; his parents; a sister, Mrs. Martha Moogk; and four brothers, Joseph, Louis, Tabb and Weert.
