Rosebud Christian was born on March 13, 1923, the daughter of Morris and Lucile Bonner Christian, at Eagle Grove, Iowa. She received her education in the Eagle Grove school system.

She was united in marriage to W. Wayne Read of Deedsville, Indiana, on July 17, 1943, at Humboldt, Iowa. The couple lived in Dakota City, Iowa, for a short time before making Eagle Grove their permanent home. Wayne died in 1986.

Rosebud “Rose” Read passed away in her home December 27, 1991, following an extended illness. She had attained the age of 68 years, nine months, and 14 days.

She leaves in passing a son, Dennis Read of Leander, Texas; three daughters: Janice (Mrs. Dewey) Olson of Russellville, Ark.; Beulah (Mrs. William) Miller, and Jane (Mrs. Jerry) Frazier, both of Webster City, Iowa; one brother, Jerry Christian, and one sister, Gladys (Mrs. Carl) Dokken both of Aurora, Ill. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; two grandchildren, Dennis and Denise Klein; one great-grandchild, Jeanie Marie Soma; and four brothers, Morris Jr., Donald, James, and Duane. Also preceding her in death was her son-in-law Robert Klein.

She was a member of the Open Bible Church in Eagle Grove.

Funeral services for Rosebud Read were held on December 30, 1991 at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. The Reverend Scott C. Hall officiated the 1:30 p.m. services and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Kastler-Babcock Services were in charge.
