Mrs. Wayne Rae funeral Friday

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Mrs. Wayne Rae of Charter Oak, the former Stella Lee, 54, of Eagle Grove. Services will be in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in charge of the pastor, Rev. H. W. Schiller. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Rae, 54, died Tuesday afternoon at University Hospitals, Iowa City, where she had been a patient for about three weeks. Previously she had had surgery at Bethesda General Hospital, Fort Dodge, and was moved to the University Hospitals.

She is survived by her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Lee of Eagle Grove, her niece, Mrs. Roger Knudsen of Davenport. Mrs. Knudsen, the former Sharon Norem, made her home with the Rae's from childhood and they consider her as a daughter.

Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Harold Gangstead of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Don Ross of Webster City, two brothers, John and Virgil Lee of Omaha, Neb.; four step [half] brothers, Oscar Lee of Omaha, Neb.; Orville Lee of Fort Dodge; Edmund Lee of Lohrville; Henry Lee of Humboldt and a step [half] sister, Mrs. Anna Sing of Joliet, Ill.

Obituary

Stella Lee Rae was born on March 15, 1917 to Ira and Rasmina Hammer Lee. She was baptized into the triune faith on March 24, 1917 at Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor, Iowa. On June 19, 1932 she renewed her baptismal covenant through the rite of confirmation at Ullensvang. She died on May 25, 1971 at University Hospital, Iowa City, after reaching the age of 54 years, 2 months, and 10 days.

Stella was educated in the public schools in Thor. On September 11, 1938 she was united in marriage to Wayne Rae at Fort Dodge. They made their home in Eagle Grove until 1966. At this time they moved to Denison. In 1968 they moved to a farm near Charter Oak. Stella entered Bethesda General Hospital in Fort Dodge on April 27 and for the past three weeks had been a patient at University Hospital in Iowa City.

Stella was preceded in death by an infant sister, Florene Jane.

Those who mourn her departure are her husband, Wayne, of Charter Oak; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira Lee of Eagle Grove; a niece, Sharon (Mrs. Roger Knudsen) of Davenport. Sharon made her home with the Rae's from childhood and they consider her as a daughter; two sisters: Mrs. Harold Gangstead of Eagle Grove and Mrs. Don Ross of Webster City; two brothers: John and Virgil of Omaha, Neb.; four half brothers: Oscar Lee of Omaha, Neb.; Orville Lee, Fort Dodge; Edmund Lee, Lohrville; Henry Lee, Humboldt; one half sister, Mrs. Anna Sing of Joliet, Ill.

Funeral services were held May 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rev. H. W. Schiller Pastor. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
