John August Kramersmeier son of Carl and Wilhelmina (Frevert) Kramersmeier, was born Feb. 24, 1905, in the rural Ledyard area. He attended the Grant Township School.

On Feb. 21, 1936, he was married to Alice Weaver. They farmed in the Ledyard area until his retirement in 1969. John had served on the Farmers Co-op Elevator board of directors, the E & R Church Consistory, the Ledyard Library board, and as a director of the State Bank of Ledyard.

John died on Sept. 15, 1986, at the St. Luke Lutheran Home in Blue Earth, Minn.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, Delmar of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Maurice of Ledyard, Iowa, and Wallace of Adel, Iowa, and two daughters, Mrs. Jean Runksmeier of Mankato, Minn., and Mrs. Bob (Faye) Boland of Swea City, Iowa. There are 12 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and two step-great-grandsons. Also surviving is one brother, Albert Kramersmeier of Buffalo Center, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services for John A. Kramersmeier, 81, of Ledyard, were held Thursday, Sept. 18, 1986, at 10:30 a.m. in the Bethany Evangelical & Reformed Church in Ledyard with Rev. Victor Vriesen officiating. Interment was in Highland Home Cemetery, Ledyard.
