Laurence Sadler was born Sept 19, 1903, southeast of Eagle Grove, Iowa, the son of Henry and Susan Thielen Sadler. He was educated in a country school near Eagle Grove.

He married Isabelle Rhiner, and the couple became the parents of two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie (Pat) Moore, Patterson, California, and Beverly, Mrs. Leonard Poletti, Hollister, California.

He was united in marriage to Myrtle Rice of Eagle Grove on Feb. 12, 1946, at Franklin, Ind. The couple returned to Eagle Grove where he farmed for a time.

He was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad as a section hand from 1949 to 1978, when he retired. They had moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa, in 1961 and more recently had lived in Humboldt, Iowa.

Laurence was taken to the Humboldt Hospital from the North Care Center, Humboldt, and died there on Friday, Sept. 19, 1986, at the age of 83 years, death came on his birthdate.

He had served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Way Maintenance of the railroad.

Laurence is survived by his wife Myrtle, Humboldt Care Center North, his two daughters, step-sons; James Rice, Battle Creek, Iowa, Estoel (Bud) Rice, Concord, Calif., Bill Rice, Dakota City, Iowa, and one step-daughter Beulah (Mrs. Richard) Beisell, Tempe, Ariz. Two brothers, Nicolas Sadler of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Frank Sadler of Eagle Grove, Iowa, also survive him, as do six grandchildren, 13 step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and nine step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Leo, Matt, and Charles.

Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart Church, Eagle Grove, Iowa, at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 1986. Father John Herzog officiated, and burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
