Pensioned Northwestern Engineer Passes on after Being Confined to his Room But a Few Days.

Funeral services for John R. Godfrey will be held at the Kubltschek & Kastler Funeral home this Thursday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock. Rev. Albert S. Kilbourn officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery where the local lodge, Bower Lodge 464 F. and A. M. of Masons will hold its service.

John R. Godfrey, the son of Rev. and Mrs. George W. Godfrey, was born at Garwin, Iowa, August 22, 1870, and passed away at Eagle Grove Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock, his age being 69 years and 20 days.

Mr. Godfrey came to Eagle Grove on October 27, 1895; and entered the employment of the Chicago & North Western Railroad. He was promoted, becoming an engineer October 2, 1899. He retired on a pension on November 28, 1937.

On January 4, 1898, he was united in marriage to Miss Cora E. Wilcox of Eagle Grove.

Besides the widow he is survived by his 4 children, a daughter, Mrs. C. Ulstad, and 3 sons, John L. and Robert of Eagle Grove and Richard Godfrey of Rockford, Ill. There are several grandchildren. He was a member of the Christian church at Garwin and also a member of Bower Lodge No. 464 F. and A. M., and of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Division No. 211.
