Don Sjoberg, 75, mechanic & avid fisherman
Donald Gordon Sjoberg, the son of Marvin and Dora (Buchanan) Sjoberg, was born on March 5, 1935, in Iowa City, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the Belmond area, graduating from Belmond High School in 1954. Donald married Mary Lou Grandgeorge. The family lived in various communities, including Webster City and moved to Eagle Grove in 1965, where they raised their three children Mike, Scott, and Rhonda. The couple later divorced. Don worked for M & M Feed Mill, AGP, Christensen Motor Company, all located in Eagle Grove, and L & L Service in Goldfield. Don was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church. He was an avid fisherman—truly enjoying his several fishing trips to Canada and to local lakes and rivers where the fish were biting. Don was very fond of time spent with his friends and catching up at their "board meetings."

Donald passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, at the age of 75 years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his children: Mike Sjoberg of Nashua, Scott Sjoberg of Eagle Grove, and Rhonda Lyon and husband Dennis of Pocahontas; six grandchildren: Zach and Meghan Sjoberg, Mollie and Joshua Lyon, and Brandy and Ben Sjoberg; one great-granddaughter, Kaydin; and sister, Connie Eckhoff of Belmond.

A Memorial Service was held on Friday, March 12, at 10:30 a.m., at Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
