Donald W. Farris was born December 20, 1932, at Oswego, Kansas. He grew up in the Oswego area where he graduated from high school. He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1951 - 1955. He was a staff sergeant and worked in the accounting field at various bases, serving a year in Alaska. He moved from Oswego to Chanute, Kan., in 1968. In 1983, he married Mary Sjoberg, formerly of Eagle Grove, in Chanute. He was self-employed with Mardon Graphics, a photographic and graphic arts business. He also taught several photography classes at the area's community college. Previously he held positions as vice president of sales for Supreme Trailer Company, general plant, foreman for Advanced Systems Homes, Inc., administrative manager for the vice president and general manager of Kustom Electronics, all of Chanute. While in Oswego, he was executive vice president of the American State Bank, business manager for Travel Industries, Inc., and did general office work at Oswego Implement Co., Inc. He was a member of the American Legion Post #170.

Donald W. Farris, Buffalo, Kan., died Tuesday, June 16, 1998, at Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center, Chanute, Kan., at the age of 65. Survivors include his wife, Mary; stepsons, Scott Sjoberg, Eagle Grove, and Mike Ingebretson, Wichita, Kan.;
stepdaughter, Rhonda Lyon, Peterson, Iowa; a brother, Dick, Oswego, Kan.; and six stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother who died in infancy.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 18, 1998, at the Gibson-Koch-Friskel Chapel in Chanute, Kan.
