Alden Couple Dies In Car-Truck Crash

ALDEN (AP) - Gustav G. Pingel, 79, and his wife, Lillian, 71, were killed Friday afternoon when their car and a truck collided head-on on a Hardin county road near here.

The accident occurred about 6 miles west of Iowa Falls. The truck driver, Steven Ellis, 22, of Galt, was released after treatment of minor injuries.

Couple killed in Hardin County

Two persons were killed Friday when their car collided with a dump truck a half mile north of Alden on a blacktop road in Hardin County.

Gustav Pingel, 79, and his wife, Lillian, 71, were killed when their car crashed head on with a truck driven by Steven Ellis, 22. Ellis was reported in good condition by Iowa Falls hospital authorities.

Former Eagle Grove Resident Killed Friday

A former Eagle Grove woman and her husband were killed in a car truck collision Friday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Gustav G. Pingel of Alden were killed in the accident six miles west of Iowa Falls.

Mrs. Pingel is the former Lillian Fisher of Eagle Grove. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fisher. She taught school at Head Grove, and in the Holmes area before teaching at Alden. In 1922 she was married to Gustav Pingle. They are survived by six children. Mrs. Pingel is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Ellen Whiting of Johnson, Vermont, four brothers, Carl and George Fisher of Eagle Grove, Roy of Webster City and Jay Fisher of Blue Earth, Minn.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Emmanuel Memorial United Church of Christ in Alden.

Mrs. Whiting is visiting in the Carl Fisher home at the present time.
