DEATH CALLS HENRY FISHER AT AGE OF 64

Wright County Resident for 40 Years Passed to Great Beyond on Thursday, May 8.

The community east of Eagle Grove was saddened last Thursday when it learned of the death of Henry Fisher, 64, who had been a resident of the neighborhood just northeast of Eagle Grove for the past 40 years.

Quiet and unostentatious in manner, Mr. Fisher was known as a reliable, trustworthy friend and neighbor and had the confidence of all with whom he came in contact. He was a substantial, dependable citizen. His death entails a distinct loss on the neighborhood in which he lived for so many years. The Eagle extends the bereaved relatives and friends its sincere sympathy in the hour of their sorrow.

Henry Fisher was born in Vestervlk, Sweden, Nov. 27, 1865 [1866], and died in his home near Eagle Grove, Ia., May 8, 1930, after a period of sickness which lasted several months, being 64 years, five months and 11 days.

He was baptized, instructed in the Christian faith and confirmed in the Lutheran church in his native vicinity. At the age of about 18 years he came to the United States to Wright county, Iowa, and lived in this community until his death. Mr. and Mrs. Fisher have lived continuously on their present home farm about 40 years.

On Jan. 28, 1891, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Berman [Bergman], who now survives him. Seven children were born to this union, five sons and two daughters, viz: Roy and Carl Fisher, both of Eagle Grove; Mrs. Lillian Pingle, Alden; Mrs. Ellen Whiting, and Jay Fisher, Mankato, Minn.; and George Fisher at home. These six together with their mother now mourn the departure of a kind father and husband. One son, Gust Fisher, died at Camp Dodge, Iowa, Oct. 18, 1919 [1918]. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and by one brother and one sister in Sweden, also by one sister near Maple Hill, Iowa.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the church at 2 o'clock. Burial was made in the family lot in the Rose Hill cemetery.
