GOLDFIELD

FINAL SERVICES HELD MONDAY FOR M. LARSON [LARSEN]

Died at the Home of His Daughter, on April 22 at the Age of 79. Resident Here Since 1881.

Morten Larson [Larsen], 79, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Anderson, north of Goldfield, Wednesday evening. Mr. Larsen had been critically ill for several weeks.

Funeral services were held at the United Presbyterian church Monday afternoon with the Rev. R. M. McCracken in charge of the service. Burial was in the Glenwood cemetery.

Mr. Larsen is survived by his wile and ten children all of whom were present at the funeral. The children are August Larsen of Mason City, George Larsen of Estherville, John Larsen of St. Mary's, West Virginia, Mrs. Blair Jackett of Bayard, Neb., Harry Larsen, Edward Larson, William Larsen and Mrs. Frank Anderson of Goldfield, Howard Larsen of San Fernando, Calif., and Guy Larsen of Rockford, Ill.

Obituary

Morton [Morten] N. Larsen was born in Langeland, Denmark, on April 7, 1857, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Anderson, on April 22, 1936, at the age of 79 years and 15 days.

He grew to manhood in the community where he was born. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith in infancy and at the age of 14 years was confirmed. He remained in this faith until the time of his death.

In the year 1881, on April 1st, he was married to Christina Christiansen, and in the spring emigrated to America and located near Goldfield, Iowa, where he lived until the present time.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his faithful companion in life, who died in 1923, one daughter who died in infancy, and one son who passed away in 1932.

In 1924 he was married to Mrs. Fredricka Rasmussen. Surviving him are his wife, and ten children, 22 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, one brother, John Larsen of Goldfield and two brothers and one sister in Denmark.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Larson of Hardy, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Larson of Estherville, Mr. and Mrs. August Larson of Mason City, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Larson of Rockford, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. John Larson of St. Marys, W. Va., Mr. and Mrs. Howard Larson of San Fernando, Calif., Mrs. Blair Jackett of Bayard, Neb., Mrs. H. P. Nielsen and family of Eagle Grove and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Nelson of Redfield, S. D.

MORTON [MORTEN] LARSEN LAID TO REST IN GOLDFIELD CEMETERY ON MONDAY

Funeral services for the late Morton [Morten] N. Larsen were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the United Presbyterian church, Rev. R. M. McCracken officiating at the church and at the burial in Glenwood cemetery. Mr. Larsen, who was 79 years old, passed away on April 22, after a long illness, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Anderson. He had been a resident of this community for more than fifty years, coming here from Langland, Norway [Denmark], where he was born on April 7, 1857. He was educated in his home town and grew to manhood there. In infancy he was baptized in the Lutheran church and at the age of fourteen was confirmed. He has always been a devout member of that church. In 1881, on April 1, he was married to Miss Christina Christensen and with her emigrated to America, settling in Goldfield in the late spring of 1881.

His wife, faithful companion in life, passed away in 1923. In 1924 he was married to Mrs. Fredericka Rasmussen of Goldfield who survives him, together with ten children, 22 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, three brothers, John of Goldfield, and two others and one sister in Denmark.

The children, Harry, Edward, William and Mrs. Frank Anderson of Goldfield, August of Mason City, George of Estherville, John S. of St. Mary's, West Virginia, Howard of San Fernando, Calif., Guy of Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Blair Jackett of Bayard, Neb., were all here for the funeral.
