GOLDFIELD

Mr. John Rasmussen, Sr., who died recently, was buried last Friday. Funeral services were held at the U. P. church. An industrious, estimable citizen whose death is mourned by a very large circle of relatives has gone beyond. He was an uncle of Chris, John, and Arthur Rasmussen, a brother of Mrs. Pehl of this place. Rev. Oakdale of Eagle Grove assisted in the funeral services. Mr. Rasmussen was a native of Denmark. He leaves a wife and eight children. There was a large attendance at the funeral.

John L. Rasmussen was born in Langland, Denmark, June 22, 1852, and died at his home in Humboldt county, March 22, 1916.

Mr. Rasmussen came to America in the year 1870, locating in Michigan, where he remained about two years working in the mines. From there he came to Wright county and after a few years located on his farm in Humboldt county, where he spent the remaining thirty-two years of his life. He was united in marriage January 3, 1880, to Frederike Fredericksen. To this union was born seven children—Peter, Minnie Annie, Caroline, Fred, Anton and Nels. All these with the wife and mother live to mourn the loss of a husband and father.

In addition to these there remain Mr. Rasmussen's aged mother, Grandma Hansen, two sisters, Mrs. Geo. Pehl and Mrs. Hans Christenson, and one brother, George Rasmussen, together with a host of friends and relatives to mourn his death.

The deceased was confirmed in the Lutheran church at the age of fourteen and remained in that faith until the end.

Funeral services were conducted from the United Presbyterian church at this place Friday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock. The services were in charge of the pastor, assisted by the Rev. H. A. Oakdale, pastor of the Lutheran church at Eagle Grove. The remains were laid to rest in Glenwood cemetery, where Mr. Rasmussen's father is also buried.
