October 15, 1919 --- April 25, 2001

Richard A Larson, 81, of 2100 Scott Blvd., Lot 24, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at his home following a brief illness.

Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service with the Rev. Harlan Gillespie officiating. Private family burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Mid-Eastern Iowa Community Mental Health Center in Iowa City.

Mr. Larson was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Goldfield to Fred and Matilda (Hansen) Larson. He was reared in Mason City and graduated from Mason City High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He married Dorothy M. Scott on Aug. 15, 1947, in Mason City. He worked as a contractor building homes in Mason City and later doing repairs for a jeweler in Mason City. After retiring in 1981, he and his wife moved to Iowa City. He worked for the Mid-Eastern Iowa Community Mental Health Center, assisting with repair of facilities, and also taught photography at the Senior Center.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter and her husband, Judy and Tom Glau of Iowa City; one son and his wife, Greg and Lynne Larson of Springville, Utah; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Ronald Larson of Minneapolis, Minn.; and one sister, Thelma Sullivan of Des Moines.

Two brothers, Kermit and Beresford, died earlier.
