Funeral services for Mathias Fischer, 80, will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Kastler Funeral Home.

Rev. Charles J. Conger of Goldfield will officiate and casket bearers will be Clarence Williamson, Joseph E. Maier Jr., Thomas Hamer, Carlyle Fischer, George Fischer and Donald Trausch.

Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mr. Fischer died Sunday at his farm home east of Eagle Grove.

He is survived by his wife and five children; William C. and Merlyn of Eagle Grove; Mrs. Gerald Ellston, Des Moines: Mrs. John Avery, Rowan, Mrs. Merrill McCoy, Des Moines.

He is also survived by three sisters; Mrs. Rose Peterson, Mrs. Margaret Smith, and Mrs. Anna Pringle.

Mathias Fischer was born July 16, 1875 at Kankakee, Ill., and passed away Nov. 27th at his farm home south of Head Grove at the age of 80 years, 4 months and 11 days. His parents were Sebastian and Anna Fischer. At the age of five years he came to Iowa and with his parents settled in Woolstock township, where he received his education in the rural schools.

On February 6, 1900 he was married to Margaret Ann Hamer. To them were born five children: William C. and Merlyn T. of Eagle Grove; Vera (Mrs. Gerald Ellston) of Des Moines, Eva, (Mrs. John Avery) of Rowan, and Dorothy (Mrs. Merrill McCoy) of Des Moines. Other survivors include eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Rose Peterson, Mrs. Margaret Smith, and Mrs. Anna Pringle.

He is preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Always interested in community affairs, he served as school director for several years and was serving his 36th year as township school Treasurer.

Mr. and Mrs. Fischer have spent their entire married life in Woolstock township. He was a kind and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Dec. 1st at the Kastler Funeral Home and Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove, six nephews serving as pallbearers. Services were in charge of Charles J. Conger of the Park Church of Christ of Goldfield.
