Harrison Delawyer
18 May 1832 --- 14 March 1924Harrison DeLayer [Delawyer] was born in Rome, New York, May 18, 1832, and passed to his eternal reward March 14, 1924, at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 25 days. His early life was spent in Sauk county, Wisconsin, later coming to Hardin, county, Iowa. In 1886 he came to Wright county Iowa, where he has been a continuous resident ever since. For fifty years he has suffered with poor eyesight, being partially blind, and at times totally blind.
He was united in marriage with Hannah Wilcox Nov. 21, 1858. She passed to her reward six years ago. To this union were born five sons and three daughters, Those left to mourn his loss are: three sons, Gilford, Geneva, Iowa; George, Union, Iowa; Henry, Graettinger, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. Fred Schroeder, and their families. He had made his home with the latter. Two sons and two daughters preceded him in death. One stepson, James Wilcox, Ames, Iowa, twenty-five grandchildren and twenty-eight (great grandchildren, besides many friends, also survive.
Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon in charge of Rev. E. A. Anderson and the remains were laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery.
