James A. Dundon (1883-1950)

August 16, 1883 --- May 14, 1950

James Dundon, 67, was found dead in his car Sunday afternoon about 5 o'clock just east of highway 60 [69], on the Woolstock road. Mr. Dundon had been at the river fishing and on the way home apparently suffered a heart attack. He stopped his car, turned off the ignition and slumped at the wheel.

Mr. Dundon, son of Michael and Mary Dundon pioneer settlers of Hamilton county, was born August 16, 1883 on the Dundon homestead in Fremont township. He moved here with his parents and was employed for many years by the Chicago and North Western railroad.

Mr. Dundon was the third member of his family to die in the last five months. His sister Miss Mary Dundon died in March, and a brother Thomas in January.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Wm. Wehrheim of this city, and Mrs. Andrew Christensen of Webster City.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 9:30 in Sacred Heart church. The pastor Rev. James Slowey officiated, and burial was in Calvary cemetery.

Out-of-town relatives and friends who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Christensen, Mr. and Mrs. Don Christensen, Dean Christensen, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Wright, Dick and Patty Ann, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Koolhoff Jr., of Webster City; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wehrheim, Mrs. Wilbur Smith, Clarion; Mrs. Robert DeVine, Jo and Eddie of Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Maude McPhillips, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Nellis, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Prince, Miss Bess Lyons, Mrs. Frank Ekstein, Miss Agnes Welsh, James and Walter Kelly, Mrs. Reuben Halsne, of Webster City.
