Richard (Dick) Arnold Dobbs was born October 17, 1947, the son of Mervin and Norma Chesbro Dobbs, in Crawford County, Wis. He received his education in the Renwick school system, and graduated from Boone Valley High School in 1965. He continued his education at the Eagle Grove campus of Iowa Central Community College.

He entered into the U. S. Army on April 5, 1966, at Fort Des Moines. Upon completion of service in Vietnam, he received his honorable discharge at St. Louis, Mo., on November 30, 1968.

He was united in marriage to Diane Howell of Eagle Grove August 7, 1971 at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. The couple has made Eagle Grove their home since their marriage. Dobbs has been employed with the Umthun Trucking Company in Eagle Grove since l973.

Richard (Dick) Arnold Dobbs died at the Hamilton County Public Hospital Saturday, May 22, 1993 following a heart attack in his home, He was 45 years, six months and five days of age.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Jess; five daughters, Shannon, Stephanie, Serenity, Sasha, and Susannah, all of Eagle Grove; his parents, Mervin and Norma Dobbs of Zearing; three brothers, Terry of Mustang, Okla., Michael of Ames, and Dean of Zearing; two sisters, Mrs. Arnold (Pat) Bjorklund, Goldfield; and Mrs. Wayne (Deanne) Stansbery of Zearing; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 25 at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with the Rev. Scott C. Hall officiating at the 2 p.m. service. Burial was held at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Kastler-Babcock Services, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
