March 28, 1900 --- February 7, 1958

Dies After Exposure in Severe Cold

Frank Detrick, 57, found unconscious next to a house at 702 North Iowa about 6:30 a. m. Friday, died from exposure shortly after he was admitted to Mercy hospital, Fort Dodge. Temperature at that time was five degrees below zero. Detrick was found near his house.

Mrs. Melbourne Sampson, 706 North Iowa saw Detrick lying in the yard near the house at 702 North Iowa. She called Eagle Grove police and a physician. An investigation conducted by the Webster county coroner at Mercy hospital disclosed that Detrick’s death was from exposure. Wright county sheriff’s office and Eagle Grove police investigated Detrick’s death.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at 11:00 at Sacquety Chapel with Rev. Maurice Mullan in charge. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Casket bearers were Julius Roseland, James Toillion, Robert Kallem, Elliott Hill, Ben Schmits and Joe Morphew.

Mr. Detrick is survived by his mother, Mrs. Ethel Bradford with whom he had his home, a sister, Mrs. Roy Thorn of Eagle Grove, two daughter, Mrs. T. V. Denuszek, Casper, Wyo., Mrs. Wayne Gladous, Green Bay, Wis., one son, Donald Detrick, Fort Sheridan, Ill.
