March 5, 1901 --- September 17, 1927

26-Year-Old Farmer Died Saturday After Three Week Siege of Typhoid Fever.

The community was saddened Saturday when it learned that John Derscheid was dead. It was known that he was seriously ill, but it was believed that his rugged constitution reinforced by his years of out-of-door life would enable him to combat successfully the ravages of the fever, but it was not to be. He died Saturday, Sept. 26 [17], 1927.

John Derscheid was highly esteemed in this community, where he lived practically all his life. He was manly, honest and straightforward and faithful to the obligations of home, community and fraternal associations. His hosts of friends extend to the sorely bereaved family, parents and other relatives their sincerest sympathy in the hour their irretrievable loss seems the hardest to bear.

The funeral was held at the Congregational church Tuesday afternoon. The church was crowded with friends and acquaintances of the deceased who had come to pay a final tribute of friendship and esteem.

He has always been a faithful hard working young man. He was honored and trusted by everybody who knew him. His home was ideal in that it was made happy by his love and care for those who belonged to it.
