Funeral services for Miss Grace Elizabeth Derscheid, 77, were held Saturday afternoon in the United Methodist Church. The Rev. Donald Forbes officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Miss Derscheid died Sept. 23 at the Rotary Ann Home where she had been an infirmary resident for the past six months.

She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. James Abbott of Eagle Grove, and Mrs. George McVlcker of Kenyon, Minn, and one brother Maurice Derscheid of Kenyon, Minn.

Miss Derscheid was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Derscheid. She attended the country school known as “The Derscheid School" west of Eagle Grove and was graduated from Eagle Grove High School and Capitol City Commercial College, Des Moines.

For many years she was employed in a law office and by a judge in Des Moines as a stenographer. Later she was with the placement office at Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, and in 1941 moved to Washington D.C. where she had a government position. She retired in 1958 and moved to Florida. Two years later she moved to Phoenix, Ariz. and came back home six months ago. She was a member of the Methodist Church, The Order of Eastern Star and Wa Tan Ya Club.

OBITUARY

Grace Elizabeth Derscheid was born July 4, 1894, near Eagle Grove, Iowa, the daughter of George and Lois Emerick Derscheid.

She attended country school, graduated from Eagle Grove High School, and Capitol City Commercial College, in Des Moines.

She was employed by a judge and attorney in Des Moines for 12 years as a stenographer. She also was employed in International Falls, Minnesota, at Teachers College, Cedar Falls, and the John Deere Company, Dallas, Texas.

In 1941, she moved to Washington, D.C. and was employed there until retiring in 1958, and moving to Florida. After 2 years, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and resided there until moving to the Rotary Ann Home 6 months ago.

She passed away there on Thursday, September 23, at the age of 77 years, 2 months, 19 days.

She is survived by one brother, Maurice L. Derscheid, Kenyon, Minn.; two sisters, Bessie, Mrs. George McVicker, Kenyon, Minn.; and Lucille, Mrs. James Abbott, Eagle Grove, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, John and Harold.

She was a member of the Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and Wa Tan Ya.

Funeral services were held on September 25, at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove. Rev. Donald L. Forbes officiated, and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, Iowa.
