Miss Esther G. Derscheid, the daughter of Henry and Mary Emerick Derscheid, was born at Eagle Grove, Iowa on November 29, 1894. She grew up in the Eagle Grove area and received her education there.

For the past 44 years, Esther had been a resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Joanna-Miriam Circle and the St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary, where she was a life member.

She died at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids on Monday, April 26, 1982 after a long illness. She attained the age of 87 years, 4 months and 27 days.

Surviving are two sisters, Helen, Mrs. Milton Orth of Iowa City and Pearl Derscheid of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Harley and Robert Derscheid, both of Eagle Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Glenn, and a sister, Florence.

Funeral services for Esther G. Derscheid were held on Thursday, April 29, 1982 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Don Callen officiated and burial was in the family lot at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held on Wednesday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
