Einar Derscheid Dies Following Lengthy Illness

Funeral services for Einar L. Derscheid were held Monday afternoon in the Samuel Lutheran church.

Pastor Jordan Jacobsen officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Derscheid had been very ill for many months and spent considerable time in hospitals, however during much of his long illness he was in his own home on the Derscheid farm south of Eagle Grove at the top of the “Troy hill.” He died early Saturday morning May 22nd.

He is survived by his wife and their four sons, Douglas, Dennis, Gregory and Ricky, his parents Mr. and Mrs. Glen Derscheid, two brothers, Roger and Allen Derscheid and eight sisters, Mrs. Edward Dwiggins of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Kenneth Spangler, Mrs. Ed. Ellsworth, Mrs. Don Knudsen of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Geo. Cole of Minneapolis, Mrs. Gerald Sunner of Ft. Dodge, Mrs. Rodney Knudsen, Humboldt and Mrs. Larry Wayman of Webster City.

Obituary

Einar Lynn Derscheid son of Glen and Edith Derscheid was born Oct. 28, 1926 in Eagle Grove. He attended the Eagle Grove schools and graduated with the class of 1944. Einar served in the U. S. Army from Jan. 6, 1945 until Aug. 28, 1946.

He was united in marriage with Darlene Hill of Badger Nov. 23, 1947. To this union was born four sons, Douglas, Dennis. Gregory and Ricky. They lived in Eagle Grove for the first two years after marriage and then moved to their present farm in Troy Township.

Einar was a member of the Samuel Lutheran church and also a member of the American Legion.

He died Saturday, May 22 at his farm home in Troy Township.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Jim Derscheid and Max Derscheid. Also by twin sisters Margaret and Mildred Derscheid who died in infancy.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene, four sons, Douglas, Dennis, Gregory and Ricky. His parents: Mr. and Mrs. Glen Derscheid. Also by two brothers, Roger and Allen Derscheid of Eagle Grove and by eight sisters: Mrs. Edward Dwiggins of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Kenneth Spangler of Eagle Grove, Mrs. George Cole of Minneapolis. Mrs. Ed. Ellsworth, Mrs. Donald Knudsen of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Gerald Sunner of Ft. Dodge, Mrs. Rodney Knudsen of Humboldt and Mrs. Larry Wayman of Webster City.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 24, 2:00 p m. at the Samuel Evangelical Lutheran church of Eagle Grove Rev. Jordan Jacobsen officiating. Burial was at the Rose Hill Cemetery of Eagle Grove.
