George E. Davis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Davis, was born on December 18, 1868 at Panora, Iowa, and passed away at the I.O.O.F. home at Mason City on February 16, 1945 at the age of 76 years 1 month and 28 days.

George is survived by no immediate family but by several nieces and nephews. He was very well known in Eagle Grove when he made his home here as he was a night caller for the C. & N. W. Ry., and acted as substitute rural mail carrier. He was an ardent Odd Fellow and on account of his disability he went to the home in 1912 and that has been his home since. He had a way of making fast friends, and will be greatly missed at the home, as well as in Eagle Grove where he was a member of Golden Links Lodge No. 68.

A previous service was held Monday morning at the Chapel in the Home at Mason City which was conducted by Rev. Bamford.

Services in Eagle Grove were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in charge of Rev. Throckmorton assisted by Rev. Wilkinson at the Wilson Funeral Chapel, the grave service given by the Lodge with S. H. Williamson acting as Noble Grand and W. E. Warnes as Chaplain. Frank Wells sang two solos with DeWitt Talmnge as accompanist.
