Obituary

Andrew Alexander Davis was born in Savana, Carroll county, Ill., on Sept. 28, 1853 [1851] and departed this life at the home of Mrs. Heddon in Eagle Grove, Iowa, where he was being nursed on Feb. 12, 1931 at the age of 78 years, four months and 15 days.

About the year 1880 he was married to Miss Jessie Spencer and to this union two children were born, his wife and one child preceding him in death.

He leaves to mourn his departure, one daughter, Mrs. Ulysses Boring, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two brothers, namely, Stephen Davis of Humboldt and Robert Davis of Dolliver, Iowa, with a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Mr. Davis was reared by Christian parents in the Presbyterian church but later united with the Methodist church. He was a man who loved his church and as long as his health permitted him, he was a regular attendant at church services.

Some 13 years ago, Mr. Davis went to Hot Springs, Ark., for his health and has spent much of his time since in that place and in other parts of the country seeking some help for his afflictions. Last August he came to Eagle Grove to make his home with his daughter, where he seemed to recuperate for a time, but about Christmas he began to fail again, and for the last three weeks he has been cared for in the home of Mrs. Thos. Heddon where he had the watchful care of a trained nurse. Last Thursday he quietly passed to the Great Beyond, known only to those who have passed through the experience of death.
