Wm Darling, 85, died Tuesday morning in Lutheran hospital, Fort Dodge, following a short Illness.

Mr. Darling is survived by his wife Anna.

Mr. and Mrs. Darling who had resided in Eagle Grove and vicinity for many years, moved about 6 months ago to Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge to reside.

Funeral services will be held at the Sacquety Chapel Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. In charge is Rev. Clarence Tompkins, of Friendship Haven, formerly pastor of the Eagle Grove Methodist church.

Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.

WATERMAN – Word was received Tuesday of the passing of Will Darling, 85, a former resident here, who died at Fort Dodge, la., on May 28, 1957.

William Stone Darling was born on July 21, 1871, the son of Anthony and Clara Darling of Waterman. He grew to manhood there and in January of 1900 [1901] married Laura Wiltberger McConathy of Louisville, Ky. They farmed north of Waterman for six years, then went to a farm near Goldfield, la., which he purchased. On the death of Mrs. Darling in 1940 he retired to Eagle Grove, la., and later married Mrs. Anne [Anna] Pane [Paine] and they made their home In that city.

Last fall in failing health, they entered the Friendship Haven, a retirement home in Fort Dodge. His brief illness brought his passing at the hospital in Fort Dodge.

Mr. Darling will be remembered as a staunch church member.

He is survived by his wife, Anne, two brothers, Lee Darling of Hinckley and John of DeKalb, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held In Eagle Grove today, with interment in that city.

Services for William Stone Darling, 75 [85], were held Friday, May 31 in Sacquety Funeral Chapel with Rev. Clarence Tompkins in charge. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mr. Darling died Wednesday [Tuesday], May 29 [28] at Friendship Haven, Ft. Dodge where he and his wife had resided for the past two years. Mr. Darling was born in East Aurora, Pa., July 21, 1881 [1871]. In 1901 he was married to Laura McConoty [McConathy] of East Aurora and in 1907 they moved to Iowa. His wife died in 1940.

In 1946 he was married to Anna Paine who survives him and continues her residence in Friendship Haven.

Mr. Darling farmed in the Evergreen neighborhood for many years He retired in 1943 and moved to Eagle Grove.

He is survived by his wife, brothers John of DeKalb and Leon of Hinkley, Ill. Mr. Darling raised one boy Clarence Cuthbert who is a Lt. Colonel in the army and is stationed in Warshington, D.C.
