Funeral service for Harry Virgil Damon, 43, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral home. Rev. W. D. Worden of the Baptist church was in charge, and music was furnished by Miss Carol Olson, and Mrs. Virginia Robinson, Mrs. W. D. Worden was accompanist.

Mr. Damon died October 14 at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Damon on North Iowa avenue.

Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Harry Virgil Damon was born on May 26, 1903 and passed away at the age of 43 years, 4 months and 18 days, following a four day illness.

Harry was the first son of Henry Bert and Abbie Grace Damon and also the eldest of twelve children.

He was born in Eagle Grove and attended the Eagle Grove schools, spending his childhood in Eagle Grove, Vincent and Holmes.

Sixteen years ago he moved to Detroit, Mich., and since that time has been employed by the Michigan Seamless Tube Mill there as a crane foreman. Twelve years ago he was injured in a factory accident and since then has been in failing health.

For the past nine months he has been on sick leave, and has been living with his parents here. Although only living here a short time Harry made a host of new friends and renewed his childhood acquaintances.

Although in poor health he was happiest when he was outside with nature's beauty.

Harry was a kind and thoughtful brother and son, thinking always of his loved ones before himself.

Preceeding him in death were three brothers, two of whom died in infancy, and one, Harris, who gave his life to his country in World War II.

He leaves to mourn his passing, besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Damon, five sisters. Mrs. Myrtle Glendenning of Smithville, N. Y.; Mrs. Sylvia Anderson of Waterville, Iowa; Mrs. Ione Sherlock of Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Cleo Hill of Eagle Grove; and Mrs. Alta Turner of Fort Dodge, Iowa; three brothers, Walter, Arthur and Ivan, all of Brighton, Michigan. Also 12 nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

All of his family attended the funeral, but for the exception of his father, who is recovering from a recent operation, and his sister, Myrtle.

The pallbearers, all school mates and friends of Harry's, were: George and John Rasmussen. Ambrose Crowley, Norris Ulstad, George Baun and Karl Stecher.

Relatives and friends attending from out of town besides the brothers and sisters were: Mrs. Walter Damon and children of Brighton, Michigan, William Turner of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Ira McQuire, Tim and Ambrose Crowley of Vincent, Lawrence Crowley of Fort Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Stecher of Goldfleld, Mr. and Mrs. John Rasmussen and George Rasmussen of Clarion, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Fraser, Mrs. Albert Anderson and Miss Grace Wampler of Holmes.

Burial was in the family lot at Rose Hill cemetery.
