SEVERT QUINSLAND, OLD PIONEER, DEAD
Severt Quinsland was born in Quinsland, Haugesund, Norway, on July 20, 1855, He died on Wednesday, July 9, at five o'clock, at his home on South Cadwell avenue, in Eagle Grove, Iowa.

He became a sailor at the age of fourteen, traveling over the many waters bordering on Europe. At the age of twenty-three he came to the United States and secured employment in Story county, Iowa, on a farm. Later he moved to Wright county, where be worked on the Wilson range, north of Goldfield. He then purchased 160 acres west of Goldfield. Two years later he married Teresa T. Gunderson of Stavanger, Norway. After living on this farm for twenty-three years, he moved to Eagle Grove, where he bought a comfortable home.

Mr. Quinsland was one of the early pioneers of Wright county. He was a hard worker, and became
a man of wealth. His health was very good up to the time of his death, when he suffered for only
four days. He was a member of the West Side Lutheran church and was highly regarded as a neighbor and friend. He was well known in Wright county for forty-five years.

The funeral was held at the West Side Lutheran church on Saturday, July 12 conducted by Rev. Spande. The remains were laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, children, and grandchildren, one daughter. Mrs. Severson, and
her children living with him or near him till the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his death three children, Mrs. Lottie Corhouse, of Ypsilanti, N. D.; Mrs. Annie Severson, Eagle Grove, Iowa; Henry Quinsland, Eagle Grove, Iowa. Two children died in infancy. He also leaves twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. Those from out-of-town who attended the funeral were Hans Quinsland, Milford, Iowa; Mrs. Annie Halverson, Thor, Iowa; Mrs. Melia Hegghen, Earlville, Ill.; Mrs. Thos. Funtland, Waterman, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Corhouse, of Ypsilanti, N. D.

The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved family in their loss.
