September 10, 1871 --- September 5, 1943

Mrs. Stenard Anderson

Martha Sirine Helland was born to the parents Torren and Bertha Helland, near Stavanger, Norway, September 10th, 1871. And died at her home, Eagle Grove, Iowa, September 5th, 1943, age 71 years, 11 months and 26 days. She received the Christian baptism in the Sandeid Parish and attended the schools of her home community. In 1883 she came to America, to Sheldahl, Iowa. There she prepared for confirmation under the late Pastor H. C. Holm, and confessed her Christian faith in 1885.

On November 27th, 1892 she was united in marriage to Stenard Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson lived on their farm in Wright county until they retired into Eagle Grove, March 1, 1919, where Mr. Anderson passed away from this life July 22nd, 1937.

Mrs. Anderson is now survived by one daughter, Mrs. Berthilda Burras, Kanawha, and by one son, Selmar [Salmer] Anderson, Clarion. Also 11 grandchildren, and one brother, Edward Helland, of Egeland, N. D., and by one sister, Mrs. Julia Waage, of Jeffers, Minn.

Mrs. Anderson was one of those quiet and reserved souls, whom the Lord has found and impressed with his patience. She was kind and considerate. A good wife and mother, a neighbor whom all loved. She was a faithful church member who willingly shared of what the Lord had given her. She loved the Savior. For some time she has been confined to her home, and at times to the bed; but she never complained of her lot. She accepted the comfort from the word of God brought to her.
