Maude Newburn's Funeral Saturday

Funeral services for Mrs. Francis Newburn, 77, were held Friday afternoon at the Kastler-Babcock
Funeral home at 2 o'clock, with Rev. Donald Forbes officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Newburn died suddenly at Bethesda General Hospital, Fort Dodge, on Nov. 25th following a
short illness. She had been taken to the hospital that morning following a stroke.

Mrs. Newburn is survived by three sons, Earl of Rushmore, Minn.; Edward of Tucson, Ariz., and Roger of rural Eagle Grove. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and one sister. Mrs. Leslie
Clifton of Homestead. Fla.

Mrs. Newburn was a life long resident of Eagle Grove; and a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Dignan, who were among the early settlers- in Troy Township. She was a graduate of Eagle Grove High School and a teacher in the rural Wright County schools. She was united in marriage to Francis Newburn in 1913 and he preceded her in death in 1960.

The Eastern Star lodge of which she was a member conducted memorial services at the funeral home Thursday evening.

Obituary
Maude Dignan was born October 20, 1892, at Eagle Grove, the daughter of Edward and Viola Woodard Dignan. Her parents were some of the early settlers of Troy Township. She graduated from the Eagle Grove High School and taught country school for a time. She was united in marriage to Francis Earl Newburn on May 14, 1913 at Eagle Grove, and farmed near the Eagle Grove-Woolstock communities until Mr. Newburn's death in November of 1960.

They had become the parents of three sons, all of whom survive. They are Earl Newburn, Edward Newburn and Roger Newburn.

Mrs. Newburn was a member of the Eagle Grove Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, The White Shrine of Jerusalem, the Garden Club, the Troy Culture Club; the Woolstock Homemakers Club, the Farm Bureau and the Extension Council. She was quite active in the organizations to which she belonged and her presence will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Newburn died suddenly at the Bethesda General Hospital in Fort Dodge on Tuesday, November 25 after an illness of a few hours. At the time of her death. she was 77 years, 1 month, and 5 days of age.

She is also survived by a sister, Catherine Clifton, Homestead, Fla., and 11 grandchildren.

Eastern Star services were held at the funeral home Thursday evening 8 p.m. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 28, at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home. Rev. Donald Forbes of the United Methodist Church officiated, and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove.
