Private graveside services, at Rose Hill cemetery, were held Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock, for John
W. Dignan formerly of this city, who died July 30th. Rev. Clarence Tompkins gave the prayer. Funeral services and cremation were held Saturday, Aug. 2nd in Salt Lake City, Utah, and the ashes arrived in Eagle Grove Monday morning.

Mr. Dignan was a brother of Mrs. Mary Bangs, Mrs. F. E. Newburn of this city, and Mrs. Leslie Clifton of Columbus, Ohio.

The following account of the death and funeral is from the Ely, Nev., Daily Times:

Private funeral services will be held Saturday, August 2, in Salt Lake City for John W. Dignan who
died yesterday at a local hospital. Mr. Dignan had been ill for several years and during the past months had been confined to the hospital. Born in November, 1877, at Eagle Grove, Iowa, Mr. Dignan received his schooling in that state and was graduated from Grinnell College, Iowa. In 1903 he was admitted to the practice of law in Tacoma, Wash., and subsequently went to Alaska where he served as U. S. deputy marshal from 1904 to 1911.

Mr. Dignan came to Nevada in 1920 and for some years was associated in law practice in Reno, with
Pat McCarran. He then made his home in Winnemucca where he practiced law with the late Harry Warren, under the firm name of Warren & Dignan. Several years later he returned to Reno and took over the law practice of Senator McCarran at the time of the latter's election to the Senate.

Mr. Dignan has been retired from active practice since 1940. He was a member of the California State Bar and Nevada State Bar and also a member of the Arctic Brotherhood.

Surviving Mr. Dignan are: one daughter, Mrs. E. B. Olds of Kimberly, and three sisters, Mrs. Mary
Bangs, Mrs. T. E Newburn of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Leslie Clifton of Columbus, Ohio.

Following services and cremation in Salt Lake City the remains will be accompanied to Eagle Grove, Iowa.
