Thomas Paul Homer Wicks was born on March 16, 1927, the son of Homer and Gladys Trooien Wicks at Eagle Grove, Iowa. He received his education in rural Wright County and Belmond schools. He entered the United States Army on December 6, 1945, at Fort Bragg, N.C. He received his honorable discharge on December 18, 1946 at Fort Benning, Georgia.

He was united in marriage to Arlene Wampler on May 5, 1946, at Dillon, S.C. The couple worked on
the Kenneth Knight Farm near Goldfield for a couple of years prior to his employment with George A. Hormel and Company of Fort Dodge, Iowa. He retired in January of 1984, later going to work for Eagle Building Supply in Eagle Grove. He was forced to quit working due to ill health.

Paul H. Wicks died in his home following a lengthy illness. He had attained the age of 67 years, 5 months, and 7 days. He leaves in passing, his wife, Arlene of Eagle Grove; daughters, Oynalice, and husband Bill Wright, of Minneapolis, Minn., Susanna, and husband Bill Rink, of Tucson, Ariz.,
Patricia, and husband Mike Henely, also of Tucson, Carol, and husband Chuck Gaster, of Phoenix, Ariz., Denise, and husband James Killius, Robin, and husband Jack Williams, all of Belmond, Iowa; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his father, Homer Wicks and wife, Irene, of Eagle Grove; and his mother, Gladys Wicks of Eagle Grove; brother, Robert and wife, Kathy Wicks, of Warrenton, Virginia; half brother, Larry Wicks of Cedar Rapids; sisters: Lila and Joseph Johnson of Northbranch, Minn., Betty Jones of Manson, Camilla and Adolph Kosar of Marshalltown, Sharon and Dean Flaws of Webster City, Sheila Young of Eagle Grove, and Susie and Mike McKinnis of Cainehill, Ark. He was preceded in death by his two grandsons: Brent Wright and Curtis Rink, as well as both sets of grandparents. He was a member of the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove.

Funeral services for Thomas Paul Homer Wicks were held on Saturday, August 27, 1994, in the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. The Reverend Carlton Shaw officiated the 1:30 p.m. service and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, Iowa. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
