Funeral services for Maxine Espeland, 74, Eagle Grove, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 23 at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Omar Pettersen officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Willim Funeral Home.

Maxine died Sunday, March 19 at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City.

MAXINE L. ESPELAND
Maxine Lucille Wentzel was born on September 22, 1919, the daughter of Charles and Ella McGonigle Wentzel at Story City, Iowa. At the age of 17 months she went to live with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Rifen. She was raised and educated in the Eagle Grove School System and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1937. She was united in marriage to Porter George Espeland on September 23, 1940 at Atlantic. The couple made their home in Randall and later they made Eagle Grove their permanent residence.

Porter Espeland, Sr. passed away on June 25, 1982. She continued living in the family home. She later moved to the Rotary Ann Retirement Home in Eagle Grove. She was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove and had served as secretary for many years.

Maxine Lucille Espeland died on Sunday, March 19, 1995 at North Iowa Mercy Health Care Center in Mason City at the age of 75 years. She is survived by her two sons, Porter Espeland, Jr. of Cedar Falls and Philip Espeland of Spencer; four grandchildren; and one brother, Paul Palmer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Porter, Sr., one sister, LaVonne, and one brother,
Donald Palmer.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 23, 1995 at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove, Iowa, with Reverend Omar Pettersen officiating the 1:30 p.m. service. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
