Lulu Stockdale was born March 6, 1909 at Goldfield to Lewis and Mary Hendricksen Stockdale. She graduated from Goldfield High School in 1925. She attended Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines. She married Garnett Martin in 1930 at Eagle Grove. The couple made their home in Ames and later Des Moines and moved to Fort Dodge in 1947. Her husband and she owned M & S Office Supply in Fort Dodge. Her husband died in 1967 and she continued to run the business until 1972 when she sold the business to her nephew, Stu Martin. She then made a home in Texas for 10 years and returned to Fort Dodge in 1983. In 1989 she moved to West Friendship Haven and lived there until 1993. She then moved to Tompkins Health Care Center.

She was a member of the Professional Business Women and Wa-Tan-Ye.

Lulu Stockdale Martin died March 14, 1995 at Tompkins Memorial Health Center in Fort Dodge at the age of 86.

Survivors, include a brother, George M. Stockdale, Pocahontas; and a, number of nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gus; brothers, Milford, Henry, Leslie, and Willis; and a sister, Sarah Hefti.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 17, 1995 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Reverend Kim Helmick officiating. Burial was held in North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge.

Bruce's Funeral Home in Fort Dodge was in charge of arrangements.
