Einer Erick Erickson was born August 5, 1912, near Dows, the son of Emil and Teckla Johnson Erickson. He received his education in a rural school.

He was united in marriage to Evelyn Parker of Dows on May 3, 1936, in Franklin County.

He worked for Nissen Packing Co., Webster City, until entering the Navy in 1941. He served in the Pacific Theater of Operations, and was discharged from service in 1945.

Shortly after his service time, he came to Eagle Grove, where he operated the Erickson Grocery on North Commercial. After a while, he moved to a new location on South Commercial, where he operated the Highway Grocery until selling and moving to California in 1956, where he was a union meat cutter with the Lucky Grocery Stores until retiring in 1974. Mrs. Erickson died in 1964.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Bohy Hilpipre of Eagle Grove, September 27, 1965, at the Manchester Assembly of God Church. The couple lived in California for three years before returning to Eagle Grove two years ago.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the VFW, and the UFCW Local No. 439 in California.

Einer Erickson died at the Trinity Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge, January 12, 1992, at the age of 79 years, six months, and seven days. His health had been failing for some time.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn; and a brother, Clarence.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, Eagle Grove; a son, David, Poway, Calif., one grandchild; brother, Leland, San Bernardino, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Orville (Alice) Jacobson, Manchester; and Esther Coburn, Harlingen, Texas.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove, with the Rev. Scott C. Hall officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Kastler-Babcock Services, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
