July 10, 1915 --- June 21, 1985

Aletha Muriel Turley was born July 10, 1915, at Bradgate, Iowa, the daughter of Herbert James and Carrie Louise Seaman Turley.

She was educated in the Rolfe area, and united in marriage to Fred Block of West Bend, Iowa, in 1933. Mr. Block died in 1976.

Aletha had spent most of her life in the Rolfe and Manson area, where she raised her five children.

She was united in marriage to Craig Nelson of Goldfield, Iowa, on June 29, 1980, at Pocahontas, Iowa. The couple then made their home on the farm near Goldfield.

Mrs. Nelson became ill at their home early; Friday evening, was taken to Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, where she died in the late evening at the age of 69 years, 11 months, and 11 days. She is survived by her husband; children: James Block, Rolfe; Harold and Carl Block, both of Longmont, Colo.; 2 daughters, Louise (Mrs. Aubrey) King, Manson; Grace, (Mrs. Loren) Tiernan, Pocahontas; 2 brothers, Lawrence Turley, Pocahontas; Marvin Turley, Newton; and 1 sister, Amy Turley, Manson. Also a step-son, Dean Nelson, Goldfield; 14 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Goldfield; past president of the United Presbyterian Women; the Evergreen Sporting Association, and DOC.

Funeral services were held, at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 24, at the United Presbyterian Church, Goldfield. Rev. Victor Victoria officiated, and burial was in the Clinton Garfield Cemetery, Rolfe, Iowa.
