February 17, 1916 --- November 16, 1995

Wesley William Brown was born on February 17, 1916, the son of Talton and Inez Ford Brown at Eagle Grove, Iowa. He received his education in the Eagle Grove School System. Following his schooling, he was employed with his father at Brown Grocery in Eagle Grove at the time of his marriage to Nellie Larsen of Eagle Grove in May of 1937. He entered the United States Navy on November 21, 1942, at Fort Dodge. He served during World War II and received his honorable discharge on November 10, 1945, at Minneapolis, Minn. He returned to the family store following his tour of duty. He later worked with his brother Pat at Pat's Market in Eagle Grove until his retirement. Nellie Brown died in 1971. He continued living at home until moving to the Rotary Ann Retirement Home. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove. He was also, a member of Post #304 of the American Legion and a past member of the Odd Fellows.

Wesley William Brown died at the Rotary Ann Retirement Home on Thursday, November 16, 1995. He had attained the age of 79 years, 8 months, and 29 days.

Survivors include three sons, James Brown and wife Ayelene of Eagle Grove, Thomas Brown and wife Linda of Ames, and Michael Brown and wife JoAnne of Springfield, Missouri; two daughters, Janice Fankhauser and husband James of Renwick and Carol Duerr and husband Darold of Eldora; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; also surviving is a brother, Pat Brown and wife Norma of Eagle Grove and a sister, Dorothy Camille of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Nellie Brown.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 18, 1995, at the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove, Iowa. The Reverend Bill Kem officiated. Burial was held in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.

The Willim Funeral Home, Ltd., Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
