February 5, 1900 --- June 12, 1961

Funeral services for Miss Genevieve Elliott, who died Tuesday evening in St. Petersburg, Florida, will be Saturday afternoon at two o'clock at the Kastler Funeral Home. Dr. Thomas Hoover, pastor of the Congregational church will officiate. Interment will be on the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery.

Miss Elliott is survived by her foster daughter, Miss Joy Elliott of Los Angeles, Calif., two sisters Mrs. Everett Cotton of Mitchell, S. D., and Mrs. Ed Crocco of St. Petersburg.

Miss Elliott was the daughter of pioneer Eagle Grove merchants, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Elliott, who operated a tailor shop here for many years. She was a registered nurse and practiced her profession for many years in Gillette and other points in Wyoming. She also operated a greenhouse there for many years. She had been in failing health for some time, and late this winter moved to St. Petersburg where her brother-in-law and sister Mr. and Mrs. Crocco (Edith Elliott) now reside.

Genevieve Elizabeth Elliott was born to Charles and Etta Elliott on February 5, 1900, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She attended Eagle Grove schools graduating from high school here, after which she entered the Congregational Hospital in Des Moines where she became a registered nurse. She worked at her profession in Des Moines and in Chicago.

In 1932 she accepted; a position as county health nurse in Gillette, Wyoming. Later she moved to Basin, Wyoming, where she engaged in the florist and greenhouse business. She still called Basin her home at the time of her death. The most significant and rewarding event in her life occurred in 1941 when she was able to adopt a baby girl, Joy Louise Elliott, now of San Fernando, California.

Surviving beside her daughter, Joy, are her two sisters, Eugenia, Mrs. Everett Cotton of Mitchell, South Dakota, with whom she spent the past winter, and Edith, Mrs. Edward Crocco of St. Petersburg, Florida, at which place she passed away quietly on Monday, June 12, 1961.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral, home in charge of Dr. Thos. Hoover. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Everett Cotton of Mitchell, S.D. and Miss Joy Elliott of San Fernando, Calif., who were here to attend the funeral of the latters foster-mother, Miss Genevieve Elliott Saturday afternoon, were house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cotton and Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Mac Naughton during the weekend. Miss Elliott was a sister of Mrs. Cotton.
