January 15, 1871 --- July 30, 1928

Mrs. Charles Elliott passed away at her home on North Lincoln avenue Monday, July 30, after an illness of nearly two years duration. In her passing the community loses one of its finest citizens. She came to Eagle Grove just 30 years ago and immediately won a place for herself in various church, lodge and social circles, where she was highly regarded. She has hosts of friends who consider her loss, irrevocable. The sincerest sympathy of all is extended the bereaved husband and daughters.

She was the daughter of Warren and Eugenia Hannum. After graduating from Lancaster High School she attended Plattville, Wisconsin, Normal school, and later graduated from the Chicago College of Optometry. She practiced as an optician in Lancaster for two years. On August 2, 1898, she was married to Charles Elliott, and came with him to Eagle Grove. J. Kennedy of Moorcroft, Wyoming.

In early youth she was confirmed in the Episcopal church at Lancaster, and united with the Congregational church soon after coming to Eagle Grove. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

The deceased was a woman of sterling character and winning personality. She was faithful and true in all her relations in life, and made warm friends of all her acquaintances. She will be sorely missed in church and Sunday school, by neighbors, and by countless friends.

The funeral services were held at the Congregational church Wednesday afternoon, August 1, at 2 o’clock, Rev. Floyd D. Reeves pastor, preaching the sermon. The burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. The ritual service of the Eastern Star was given at the grave.

Among those attending the funeral from out of town were: Rev. and Mrs. Arthur Bryan, Luverne, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Buchanan, Ames, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. O. B. McNamee, Des Moines, Iowa; Miss Mae Hannum, Chicago, Ill.; Warren Hannum, Madison, Wisconsin; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Cotton, Watertown, South Dakota.
