PFC Harris Bertan Damon (1911-1945)

October 11, 1911 --- January 18, 1945

Memorial services for Private First Class Harris B. Damon will be held Friday, December 19 at 2 p.m. in the Kastler Funeral Home. Damon is the second of the World War Two dead to be returned to Eagle Grove for final burial.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Damon of this city. He lost his life in the battle of the bulge in Belgium on January 18th, 1945. The body with military escort arrived in Eagle Grove this morning.

Damon, with Wilson and Virgil Gray have been buried In the Henri-Chapel [Chapelle] military cemetery in Belgium. They were returned to the United States on the same boat. Memorial services for Wilson were held Tuesday. No word has been revived about the arrival of Virgil Grey's body.

Reverend Merton L. Scott of the Baptist church will be in charge of the funeral. Military honors will be accorded by the Clarence Shurtz post of the American Legion.
