May 4, 1911 --- September 6, 1967

Erwin Lyle Darland was born May 4, 1911 at Glidden, Iowa, the son of James and Ruth Anna Griffee Darland. He attended school at Goldfield.

On August 17, 1931 he was united in marriage to Margaret Baker at Dakota City, Nebraska. The couple resided in Goldfield for two years, then moved to Eagle Grove where Mr. Darland worked as a carpenter. He retired in 1959 be cause of ill health. He was baptized in the Presbyterian Church at Goldfield and was a member there until moving to Eagle Grove.

Mr. and Mrs. Darland became the parents of 7 children, 6 of whom survive. They are: James Darland, New York, N. Y.; Gary Darland, Hawaiian Gardens, Calif.; Charles Darland, U.S. Navy; Allen Darland Eagle Grove; Barbara (Mrs. George) Kelling, Buena Park, Calif.; Alice (Mrs. Kent) Eckstrom, Madison, Wisc.

Mr. Darland passed away at his home in Eagle Grove on September 6, 1967, His survivors include his wife, Margaret, six children, 6 grandchildren; his mother Mrs. Ruth Darland Goldfield; two brothers, Glenn Darland and Virgil Darland, both of Goldfield and one sister, Mrs. George F. Peterson, Holmes. He was preceded in death by his father and one son.

Funeral services were held on September 9, 1967 at the Kastler- Babcock Funeral Home with Dr. Lloyd W. Meyer officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
