Lyle Ervin Culmer (1913-1988)

June 3, 1913 --- April 28, 1988

Lyle Ervin Culmer was born June 3, 1913, the son of Charles and Marie J. Beshey Culmer, at Somonauk, Ill. He received his education in Woolstock, and graduated from Eagle Grove High School.

He has lived in Kansas for the better part of his life. He was a very active member of the Elks Lodge receiving many honors, and was a member of the American Legion. Lyle was employed as a construction worker for most of his working life, and helped in the building of the Kansas Turnpike. He also served in World War II from 1943 to 1945.

Lyle died April 28, 1988, at the V.A. Hospital at Knoxville at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 26 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Clifford.

He is survived by his son, Douglas, of Costa Mesa, Calif.; one brother, Maynard, King City, Ore.; two sisters, Irene Sadler, Eagle Grove; and Eva Stauffer, Atlanta, Ga.; and one grandson.

Memorial services were held Monday, May 2, 1988, at 10:30 a.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. The Rev. Ken Reiter officiated and interment was in Calvary Cemetery.
