April 10, 1900 --- April 25, 1980

Harry O. Christensen, the son of Hans and Marie Rasmussen Christensen, was born on April 10, 1900, south of Goldfield, Iowa. He died on Friday, April 25, 1980 at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames after a short illness. He attained the age of 80 years and 15 days.

He attended the Paine rural school and the Goldfield High School. On March 10, 1926, he was united in marriage with Erna Eleanora Rasmussen at Des Moines. To this union were born three children, Gerald, Thomas and Lois. Mr. and Mrs. Christensen farmed all their married life in the Goldfield area. In 1966 they retired and moved to Goldfield.

Harry was a long-time member and for several years served as treasurer of the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. He also served as a director of the W and H Oil Coop and as a director on the Federal Land Bank Board. He was a member of the Evergreen Sporting Association and the Goldfield Senior Citizens.

He is survived by his wife, Erna, his children - Gerald Christensen of Goldfield; Thomas Christensen of Grinnell; Lois, Mrs. Edward Richardson of Fort Dodge; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers – James and George Christensen, both of Eagle Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ramsie and Frank.

Funeral services for Harry O. Christensen were held on Monday, April 28 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. Rev. Terry Palmer officiated and burial was in the Graceland Cemetery at Webster City. Visitation was held on Saturday and Sunday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.
