Thelma Odessa Cline was born on October 3, 1909, the daughter of George and Margaret Kuhn Cline at Emmetsburg, Iowa. She received her education in the Eagle Grove School System and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1928. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Raymond Ransford on September 7, 1930, at Goldfield. The couple lived in Eagle Grove, Mason City, and Humboldt before moving to Spirit Lake in 1940. They returned to Eagle Grove in 1978 when they purchased the house next door to the one she was raised in. Mr. Ransford died on February 24, 1987. She continued living at home until moving to the Rotary Ann Retirement Home in Eagle Grove and later into Rotary Ann Nursing Home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove.

Thelma Odessa Ransford died at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home on Monday, November 27, 1995. She had attained the age of 86 years, 1 month, and 24 days.

Survivors include her son, Tom Ransford and wife Nancy of Gig Harbor, Washington; daughters, Delores Fisher and husband Roy, Jr., of Eagle Grove, and Joyce Martin and husband Richard of Clinton; 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Valerie Ohrtman, and a brother, Ralph Cline.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 30, 1995, in the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove. The Reverend Bill Kem officiated the 11 a.m. services. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home, Ltd. of Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
