Maurice Henry Gangestad was born November 27, 1901, near Clarion, Iowa, the son of Nicholi and Emma Caroline Everson Gangestad. He was educated in a country school West of Clarion. He was united in marriage to Florence Elizabeth Ransford of Eagle Grove, on November 3, 1921, at the Methodist Parsonage at Clarion.

The couple farmed North of Eagle Grove for 25 years, and Southwest of Eagle Grove for 20 years before retiring and moving to Eagle Grove in 1965.

Maurice was employed by the Kastler-Babcock-DeYoung Funeral Home, for the past seven years.

In failing health for some time, he died at Trinity West Hospital, Ft. Dodge, on Saturday, January 25, at the age of 75 years, 1 month and 28 days.

He is survived by his wife, Eagle Grove; three sons: Melvin, Two Harbors, Minn.; Kenneth, Atlantic; Richard, Eagle Grove; one brother, Clarence Gangestad, Eagle Grove; two sisters: Mrs. Nora Daggett and Ellen, Mrs. Clarence Larsen both of Dows; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Maurice was a member of the Samuel Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 28, at 2 p.m. in the Samuel Lutheran Church. Pastor Orville Sanderson officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
