7 May 1870 ---- 28 January 1940

Frances Arvilla Pohlman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Broeffle was born in LaSalle county, Illinois, May 7th, 1870, and passed away at her home in Eagle Grove, Iowa, Jan. 28th, 1940, at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 21 days. She had been ill about two months with heart disease.

She came to Eagle Grove with her parents, and was united in marriage to Charles Pohlman on Nov. 9, 1887. To this union were born eight children. Mr. and Mrs. Pohlman lived in Eagle Grove for some time, then moved to Oklahoma for a few years, and then moved back to Eagle Grove.

Mrs. Pohlman leaves to mourn her death, Edward and Floyd Pohlman, Mrs. Emil Oldson and Mrs. Tillie Olson, all of Eagle Grove; Roy Pohlman of Malcolm, and Elmer Pohlman of Waterloo. One daughter, Bessie, died in infancy in 1905, and another daughter, Mrs. Lillian Olson, passed away in 1918, leaving two small children, Cecil and Arvilla, who have since lived with their grandmother. Besides her six surviving children she is also survived by 16 grandchildren and by 5 great grandchildren; also by two sisters, Mrs. Viola Keena and Mrs. Hattie Foss, both of Eagle Grove; and by many relatives and friends.

Mrs. Pohlman was a kind and loving mother, and a splendid neighbor. She bore her sickness patiently and read the word of God as long as she was able. She will be missed by all who knew her.
