Clifford J. Spires, 58, R.R. 1, Moline, died Thursday in Moline Lutheran Hospital. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the Trimble Funeral Home. The body will then be taken to the John Eyler Funeral Home, Clarion, Iowa, for services at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Mr. Spires had been employed as a custodian for the Moline Public School System the past two years. He was born in Woolstock, Iowa. He married LaVaughn Claude in 1940 in Webster City, Iowa. He was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Spires is survived by his wife; daughters, Mrs. Sandra Swartz, Grayling, Mich., and Mrs. Ellen Hester Jr., Des Moines; two grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Larson, Rockwell City, Iowa, Mrs. Mildred Hurtt, Odgen, Ore., and Mrs. Eleanor Butler, Woolstock; and brothers, Maurice, Emmons, Minn.; Lester, Brooklyn, N.Y.; Irvin, Seattle, Wash.; Charles, Longmont, Colo., and Ralph, Elk City, Okla.
