EAGLE GROVE, Iowa, May 7. –Mrs. Laura M. Helleland, 79, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. G. Larson, west of Thor, in Humboldt county, Saturday. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She was born in Indian Springs Ind., and had made her home with her daughter for the past six years.

Mrs. Arne Helleland died Saturday, May 4th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. G. Larson. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church with the Rev. J. R. Tumbleson in charge.

Burial was in the family lot in Troy cemetery.

Obituary

Laura Middleton, daughter of Aschel and Jane Middleton, was born in Indian Springs, Martin county, Ind., August 7th, 1860, and passed away at the home of her daughter May 4, 1940 at the age of 79 years and 9 months.

In the year of 1873 she immigrate to Iowa with her parents and settled on the farm in Troy township which was her home until five years ago, when she went to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

On Oct. 12, 1887, she was united in marriage to Arne A. Helleland, who preceded, her in death Jan. 7, 1926. To this union were born two daughters, Nannie, the wife of Lars G. Larson, and Edna, deceased. They also had an adopted son, Andrew J. Smith of Wray, Colorado.

In addition to the children, she leaves to mourn, a grandson, Leslie Larson, one sister, Mrs. W. F. Brun of Pensacola, Florida, and one foster sister, Mrs. Grace Adams of Los Angeles, Calif., a nephew, William Breen of Atlanta, Georgia, a number of cousins and other relatives and a great host of friends. She has been a member of the Methodist church since childhood. She was also a member of the local chapter of the Eastern Star.
