February 5, 1856 --- January 15, 1892

The sad news of the death of Mrs. Iowa Newcomb, beloved wife of George R. Newcomb, was a great shock to her friends and relatives. She had been ill near four weeks, yet not considered dangerously so until last Thursday, when she was suddenly taken much worse that her life was soon despaired of and she peacefully breathed her last on Friday evening at six o'clock.

Mrs. Newcomb was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Middleton, and was born in Hamilton county Feb 5, 1856; was married to Mr. Newcomb Feb 27, 1879. She leaves a kind husband, four bright children, her sorrowing parents, four sisters and two brothers to mourn her untimely death. Her eldest child is a daughter eleven and her youngest two years of age.

Married life brings its joys and cares, and by the united exertions of Mr. Newcomb and his wife, they were beginning to realize the results of their efforts to found a comfortable and happy home, which makes her passing away doubly sad.

The funeral services were held at the home, two miles south of town, Sunday morning at eleven o'clock, Rev. E. M. Glasgow preaching the sermon, after which she was lain to rest In Troy cemetery, beside a little one gone before.

Mr. Newcomb, Mr. and Mrs. Middleton and the relatives have the deepest sympathy of a large circle of friends, both in Wright and Hamilton counties.
